Take a visit to Philipsburg, Montana and you will find a town of 900 souls unlike anywhere else: quirky, spooky, steeped in history, and rough around the edges. Like the town where they reside, Ben Larson and the Grownass Men bring to the stage a completely original sound that doesn’t quite fit in any one box. With roots in gonzo bluegrass, western storytelling, the National Guard Brass band, and a sugar high at an unsupervised daycare, Ben and the band combine their vastly different life experiences into their music. Their songs are those of daily life in the modern rural West, the ghosts of Montana’s past and wry words of wisdom compiled over years of living outside and working with their hands.
Ben and the Grownass Men were road warriors in 2023, playing 117 shows from Harlowton to Dillon to Whitefish, opening for bands such as Big Richard, Eli Howard & the Greater Good, and Laney Lou & the Birddogs, and building a local following in every small Montana town along the way. Their debut self-titled EP Ben Larson & the Grownass Men can be found on all major streaming platforms.
