Big Sky Documentary Film Festival: An Outrage; Man On Fire
Sat Feb 17 2018, 08:30 PM - 10:00 PM
An Outrage: Lynching in the American South was once ubiquitous to the region, disproportionately affecting the African American population.
Filmed on-location at lynching sites in six different states, AN OUTRAGE brings together the stories and perspectives of descendants, community activists, and scholars who speak to the long-withheld past that exposes the brutalities of America’s history. (34 min)
Man On Fire: Grand Saline, Texas, a town east of Dallas, has a history of racism, a history the community doesn’t like to talk about. This shroud of secrecy was confronted by an elderly white preacher, emboldened by the injustices of the past, who sought to bring attention to the town’s dark and undeniable history. MAN ON FIRE untangles the pieces of one man’s protest and the questions and challenges this protest brought to the small Texas town. (54 min)
Location: The Elks 112 N. Pattee St. Missoula, MT
