Homesteader Workshop Series: Soil Science for Gardeners

Sat Jun 16 2018, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

The Homesteader Workshop Series is a three-part series of agricultural-themed workshops hosted by the Missoula Urban Demonstration (MUD) Project and the Moon-Randolph Homestead. Workshops are held on-site at the Moon-Randolph Homestead, a working, historic homestead. Workshops are hands-on and geared towards backyard farmers and gardeners wanting to build specific skills to enhance their small-scale farming operations. Workshop content is targeted towards adults or older youth, but families are welcome as there is plenty of room at the Homestead to play and explore.

Join Sandy Perrin from Missoula County Extension for a soil science workshop for gardeners. This workshop will cover the basics of soil science, soil testing, soil test interpretation, and soil building techniques. Workshop instructors will cover key concepts, as well as provide participants with hands-on experiences, such as collecting soil samples from the Moon-Randolph Homestead garden, evaluating soil by sight and touch, and deciphering both home- and lab-made test results.

COST:
Each workshop is $5.00 for MUD members and $10.00 for non-members.

Pre-register for the workshop at the MUD Square Marketplace, available
