"Johnny Appleseed" production classes with MCT!

Tue Jan 15 2019, 04:00 PM - 06:00 PM

The legend of Johnny Appleseed is as sweet and satisfying as the first bite of a perfectly crispy, juicy apple. The Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT) is thrilled to unveil a newly conceived, tasty twist on this historic piece of Americana when production classes begin on January 15, 2019. The classes, which are rehearsals for 'Johnny Appleseed,' will be Tuesdays-Thursdays from 4-6 PM until the week of the performances, when classes will be Feb. 11-15 (Monday-Friday). The performances will be Friday, Feb. 15 and Saturday, Feb. 16.

John Chapman was a real person who, in the late 1700’s, planted apple trees throughout the Ohio River Valley. His monumental journey, along with John’s good will, wit, and gentle determination, is where the legend of Johnny Appleseed took root and grew. MCT’s story explores Johnny’s adventures with his buddies, the Appleseeds, and the friendships they make with all kinds of people and animals. Their travels yield orchards full of juicy, delectable apples that nourish hungry tummies across the land. The tale of Johnny Appleseed is a delicious reminder that kindness is at the core of friendship.

Open to grades K-6, the 'Johnny Appleseed' classes will hold a low-stress audition the first day. Everyone who is registered will participate in the audition and receive a role in the show. The students will be cast in roles appropriate for their age level. Each class will consist of learning songs, lines, and movement for the show. The mission of the Missoula Children’s Theatre is the development of life skills in children through participation in the performing arts. Whether your child is new to the stage or a veteran performer, exploring the story of Johnny Appleseed will be a sweet adventure!
