Thu Mar 30 2017, 05:00 PM - 06:00 PM
MMAC presents a Guest Artist tour with Stephanie Frostad of Intimate West: Women Artists in Montana, 1880-1944. Free and open to the public. Meloy and Paxson Galleries, PARTV Center
Special exhibition, curated by Jeremy Canwell, focuses on pioneering women artists who arrived in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and contributed to the aesthetic and cultural milieu of the state. The exhibit showcases paintings and photographs from the permanent collection, and images from the Montana Historical Society and the UM Mansfield Library. From petite landscapes by Josephine Hale, to Frances Carroll Brown’s Impressionism-influenced portraits and Evelyn Cameron’s photographs of ranch life, the exhibit captures “a different vision of Montana in the early days of statehood.” Artist Stephanie Frostad shares the insights of a contemporary artist during a tour 5-6 p.m. March 30.
Tues, Wed, Sat: 12-3pm
Thurs, Fri: 12-6pm
