Lecture: Shooting Film in the 21st Century

Tue Apr 17 2018, 07:00 PM - 09:00 PM

Despite the convenience of digital capture and the rapidly advancing pace of digital technology, many photographers are returning to film as their capture medium. Film photography is undergoing a small renaissance of sorts. Film sales are up and many young photographers that grew up with thier iphone are turning to film for the first time. And for a good reason too. Film is real, beautiful, different and still readily available. It has some technical advantages over diigital and can open a whole new world of possibility to image making and a photographers art process. Cal Stewart, Australian Film Photographer, will give an introduction to shooting film and discuss the following topics:

- What is film and how is it different from digital capture?
- Why shoot film?
- The art and process of shooting.
- The modern hybrid photographer.
- First steps into film photography
