"Love Letters to Missoula" New paintings by Kristi Hager Sept 23 - Oct 27, 2022 Radius Gallery is proud to feature over 20 intimate paintings by long-time Missoula artist Kristi Hager, work she calls “pieces of my heart.” These love letters to Missoula dwell on the daily rhythms and sights from the artist’s life—walks along Rattlesnake Creek, laps at the public pool, summer floaters on the Clark Fork, and a grocery store parking lot at sunset -- portraits of her hometown that capture a moment while also exploring new techniques. Well known for her large-scale works, Hager has now turned to a more intimate format focusing on views of Mount Jumbo, Rattlesnake Creek, and the Hellgate Canyon through the seasons, as well as floaters, surfers, swimmers, and sunsets. “I’ve gone through periods where I wanted to use my art to make statements. That can be very powerful,” Hager says. “But now I want to paint simple things in my life. And I want to explore the technical challenges of showing the simplest things, like a fallen log.” Opening Weekend: Friday, Sept 23 from 11-6 pm, community gathering from 5-7 pm Saturday, Sept 24 from 11-3 pm - About the gallery: Radius Gallery is a contemporary art gallery in downtown Missoula dedicated to showcasing contemporary artists' skills and fostering an energetic forum for discussing art and its vitality in the world today.
