For too long, cooperatives have been considered marginal players in the global economy and seen as unrealistic venues for the aspirations of workers. This marginalization is evident in business, politics, and academia where cooperatives are rarely mentioned, let alone presented as viable alternatives to investor-driven, capitalist enterprise.
Cooperatives at Work presents success stories in worker owned-and-governed cooperatives from across the globe. Join authors George Cheney and Charlie Michel in conversation on how ideals of democracy, shared equity, and social transformation are embodied in worker cooperatives. This facilitated discussion will provide practical lessons, strategies, and resources based on their lived experience and pioneering research.
Doors will open at 4:30pm for conversation over light refreshments before the talk begins. The program will run from approximately 5-6:30pm and all are invited to linger afterwards to continue the discussion with the authors and their fellow participants.
