The Confluence Center (Western Montana's Home for Nonprofit Events) art program Torrents is thrilled to present a magical evening of art and community! This month we proudly present a solo exhibit “Partly false Prophet” by Missoula painter Madelaine Millar.
Madelaine’s art documents her journey back to her nature as an intuitive, feeling animal after years of repression. Working with an intuitive and improvisational process, her work is characterized by vibrant colors, tightly woven composition, and layers of watercolor and ink applied over many hours.
In her new body of work, Madelaine has found herself in conversation with myths, traditions, and archetypal stories as a way to process the massive changes, both personally and globally, over the last year. Deriving inspiration and a methodological map from ancestors and still-living stories, “Partly False Prophet” represents the artist’s journey of creation and discovery, a process of becoming as old as time itself.
The opening will take place First Friday, June 6th at the Confluence Center at 119 W Main St, Missoula, MT, and runs 5-8pm. Live music plus free snacks and drinks provided. The exhibit will remain on display through June 27th, and can be seen by appointment through the Center: 406-926-6526
