The Confluence Center (Western Montana's Home for Nonprofit Events) art program Torrents is thrilled to present a magical evening of art and community! This month we proudly present the solo exhibit “Village” by Spokane Artist Michael Dinning.
Dinning strives to capture a feeling that goes beyond a particular narrative, using multimedia combinations of painting, lighting and construction to hopefully give the viewer a sense about the world, about life, the joy and wonder which surrounds us daily.
In “Village”, Dinning strives to illustrate how a myriad of thoughts and voices give shape to a healthy society, and make our cities and neighborhoods dynamic, unique, and vibrant. Fascinated by how regional traditions and idiosyncrasies shape our country, Dinning focuses on how this country is a magnet for people seeking a better life, and how those people have historically created the basic character of our communities. Through this exhibit, the artist argues that instead of rending society with our differences, we need to recognize that a free and diverse population is what makes us unique.
There will be a soft opening on First Friday, July 4th at the Confluence Center at 119 W Main St, Missoula, MT, and runs 5-8pm. Then we will regather outside of the Holiday for a Second Friday on July 11th, 5-8pm, which will include Live music by John Floridis and Jennifer Slayden, plus free snacks and drinks. The exhibit will remain on display through July 25th, and can be seen by appointment through the Center: 406-926-6526
