Recreational Marijuana Laws
for Visitors and Residents of Missoula

As of January 1, 2022, adults age 21 or older are permitted to purchase and consume recreational marijuana in certain parts of Montana–but not across the state as a whole. Every county enforces their own smoking laws, so it is important to have the right information in order to safely and responsibly partake. Visitors and Residents Over 21 Years Old Can:

Montana Residents can grow and possess two mature marijuana plants and two seedlings of their own, but are not permitted to grow plants in a publicly visible space.
