The Confluence Center (Western Montana's Home for Nonprofit Events) art program Torrents is thrilled to present a magical evening of art, music, and community! We are honored to host an interactive, audio-based art experience built to raise awareness for the Montana Innocence Project.
Missoula artist Aaron Jennings presents the exhibit What Does the Fight for Justice Sound Like?, which explores the human impact of unjust convictions. Visitors are invited to immerse themselves in- and interact with- the stories behind the work of the Montana Innocence Project. Because liberty and justice are paramount to democratic society, it is the mission of the Montana Innocence Project to free the innocent and unjustly incarcerated, and advocate for systems of Justice that are accurate, accountable, and fair for all. For Jennings, the scale of suffering caused by incarceration is overwhelming. In researching this show, he sees the immense reserves of patience and fortitude that those affected by imprisonment must hold in order to carry on their fight. These works are an attempt to hold and share these feelings.
In collaboration with the installation by Aaron Jennings, there will also be a selection of artworks by: Michael Dinning, Christine Martin, Tim Thornton, Patricia Thornton, Crystal McCallie, D.L. Johnson, Ladypajama, Leland Buck, and Lauren Norby.
Reception will be First Friday, January 6th, 5-8pm at the Confluence Center at 119 W Main St, Missoula, MT. Also, stay afterwards for an After Party, featuring live music by local punk band Seditious Activity, 8-10pm! What Does the Fight for Justice Sound Like? will remain on display through February 27th and can be seen by appointment through the Confluence Center: 406-926-6526. There will also be a Gallery Talk and Fundraiser for the MT Innocence Project held on Final Friday, February 27th, 5-7pm.
