A Missoula Holiday

A Missoula Holiday

In Missoula, we take our winter holidays seriously. Whether it is with holiday events or outdoor winter recreation, you’ll find a way to keep the family occupied.

Holiday Events

The holiday season kicks usually kicks off with the Annual Parade of Lights and Tree Lighting Ceremony. This year the Parade of Lights will be held on the weekend of December 7th.  A new event will be accompanying the Parade of Lights this year, it is called Après Holiday. Downtown restaurants will be offering specialty drinks and live music to the adult crowd once the Parade of Lights is over.

But that’s not all for the weekend of the 7th. During that weekend you will also have two opportunities to catch the Missoula Symphony Orchestra’s, “Holiday Pops”. Christmas gifts, decorations and crafts will be available at the Holiday MADE Fair at the Adams Center on Sunday the 8th.   The rest of the month, check out our events calendar for other holiday performances by the Missoula Community Theatre, Garden City Ballet and many more. Visit www.destinationmissoula.org/events for more information on the dates and times of our holiday events.

Winter Recreation

Once the snow starts falling, the mountains start calling. Then it is time to wax the skis, dust off the skates and pull out the snowmobile. Missoula is in the epicenter of prime outdoor winter recreation, that’s the fun of being in a valley. Missoula is just a short drive away from 5 major ski hills and miles and miles of groomed cross country ski and snowmobile trails. Along with events like Sledding Saturday for the entire family, whatever winter activity suits your fancy.  Make sure to bundle up and keep the family warm. Visit our Activities Page  for more ideas and information on winter activities.

For the Sports Fan

With local football winding down, hockey and basketball are just getting warmed up. Catch a Missoula Bruins hockey game at the Glacier Ice Rink right in town. The Family can also cheer on the University of Montana’s Men Griz Basketball and Lady Griz Basketball at the Dahlberg Arena on Campus. For a complete schedule, visit our events calendar at www.destinationmissoula.org/events
