Missoula’s First-Ever Major Festival Set for This Summer

Missoula’s First-Ever Major Festival Set for This Summer

Great tunes and unforgettable experiences will collide in Missoula with the inaugural Zootown Festival this July 4 and 5. Missoula’s first-ever major music festival will feature an incredible lineup of 20+ performing artists including Hozier, Kacey Musgraves, Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, Mt. Joy, Lake Street Dive, Modest Mouse, Julien Baker & Torres and many more.

But the fun isn’t limited to the event's Missoula Fairgrounds location. Festival organizers are putting Missoula and its surroundings in the spotlight too. Attendees will enjoy offerings from local breweries, restaurants and other vendors, and through the festival’s partnership with GuideTime, attendees can purchase half-day and full-day recreational excursions on the days before and after the festival (and on show day morning) to experience the unmatched natural beauty of our mountains and rivers. From biking, fishing, whitewater rafting and river tubing to trail rides, guided hiking and scenic walking tours, attendees can choose from locals’ favorite ways to explore the area.

The Zootown Festival, produced by Always On, Knitting Factory Presents and Shore Sound Entertainment, in partnership with Destination Missoula and the University of Montana’s Entertainment Management program, aims to provide an economic boost while bringing the local community together to enjoy the festivities.

In fact, Scott Osburn, the festival creator, thoughtfully considered local residents when organizing the event. He gave priority ticket access to individuals with billing zip codes in the Missoula area, and the tickets sold out online in under an hour! Additionally, Osburn collaborated with the University of Montana to involve students in both the planning and marketing efforts, reflecting his connection to the university as a 2010 graduate.

Having had a vision to launch a festival in Missoula since he graduated, Osburn is ready to see his dreams become a reality this summer. “I believe there are only a few truly iconic destinations in the U.S. ideal for hosting a festival of this caliber,” shares Osburn, “and to me, Missoula sits at the top of that list. Our goal is for the local and regional community to feel a deep sense of pride and ownership in this event, while giving visitors the chance to discover the unique spirit of Missoula, Montana.”
