Movies in the park is an annual event that happens throughout the summer here in Missoula. They are hosted by Missoula Outdoor Cinema as a way to bring neighbors and community members together, to enjoy a great movie. What better way to enjoy the cooler summer nights in the Missoula area, than with friends and a movie!
Movies in the park began in 2002, with about 500 people attending two movies that year. Since then the event has grown and became a staple in our Missoula summers.
Movies in the park showcases classic films, shorts, animation, and local films. The events are a donation-only. All profits benefit the local neighborhood revitalization efforts of the North-Missoula Community Development Corporation--projects like Project Playground, Whittier Court, The Moon-Randolph Homestead, the new Food Coop and More! This really is a fun way to give back to the community with a fun family event.
The Missoula Outdoor Cinema puts on the movies in the park at the historic north side neighborhood head start school. People walk into the play area and before the sun sets neighbors and friends are enjoying each others company, and of course the smell of popcorn in the air.
This years movie in the park season is sure to be a hit with the entire family, local residents and visitors. The Missoula Outdoor Cinema is working on a schedule of movies and days but will soon have an idea of the summer plans. When they decide on a full list and time the schedule will be posted on their website.
