Rocky Mountain School of Photography: Photo Fundamentals I Evening Course

  • Where: Rocky Mountain School of Photography/ Room #204 Enter in the Higgins Office Building, 210 N Higgins Ave Missoula, MT, Montana
  • When: Feb 10th, 2020 at 6:00 pm

This six-session course builds a thorough foundation for using a DSLR or mirrorless camera. If you have always wanted to learn more about photography — perhaps you just got your first camera and aren’t sure where to start — this course is for you! We'll cover the basics of exposure in the classroom and take you on a field shoot so you can practice what you learned with an instructor by your side. By the end of this class you should be able to shoot with the camera in manual mode, confidently making decisions about camera settings so that you get the photo you envision. You'll understand your image's histogram and how it helps you determine if your exposure is accurate. We'll show you how making adjustments to your image's white balance gives you consistently proper color. We'll show you how to import, export and keep your images organized and easy to find using Adobe Lightroom. And because the technical skills alone don't create great photos, we'll also teach you the basics of composition. By mastering a few simple aesthetic guidelines, your images will improve tremendously. This course includes classroom lectures, demonstrations, a field shoot, time for Q & A, and image critiques.
