Watson Children's Shelter's 20th Annual Bike for Shelter VIRTUAL Event

  • Where: Missoula, Montana
  • When: May 1st, 2020 at

Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, all of us at Watson Children’s Shelter are doing our part to keep each other safe. We have considered all the options ahead of us and we have decided to move forward with Bike for Shelter – but with one major change. We’re going VIRTUAL!! What is a virtual bike ride anyways? A virtual bike ride can happen at any location, time, length and speed that you choose. Why should you participate? This ride is to bring awareness to all the children in the state of Montana that need emergency shelter care. Now more than ever we need the support of our community. Child abuse can happen any time in a variety of circumstances, but in times of crisis the potential for child abuse significantly increases. Stress, financial hardship, homelessness, food and job insecurity, and all the other challenges that come along with COVID-19 can increase the likelihood of abuse or neglect. By participating in our Virtual Bike for Shelter event, you are showing the community, our staff and especially the children and families we serve that, despite the current situation, you are all still here to support them. Not only is this virtual ride raising awareness and supporting Watson Children’s Shelter, it is a great opportunity for you to get outside and enjoy the beautiful state that we live in. We have all been forced to adapt our lives in many ways during this time, but you can still get out in the fresh air and enjoy bike ride (while maintaining proper social distancing of course!). During the month of May, ride virtually with all of us at Watson Children’s Shelter!! How does the 20th Annual VIRTUAL Bike for Shelter work? Step 1: Pick a date in the month of May, the length, and location of your ride. Step 2: Register for your FREE virtual ride on our website! Step 3: Get ready for your ride: • Print your virtual Bike for Shelter bib • Put on your best bike riding outfit • Remember your helmet • Review bike safety guidelines • Pump up those tires!!
