Two different concerts, two opportunities for “wow” with the Glacier Symphony Orchestra and Glacier Chorale in two consecutive weekends. A festival of orchestral and choral music not to be missed! APRIL 24 – 25, 2021 Glacier Chorale Dr. Micah Hunter, Conductor Choral Pillars and Portraits The three chamber choirs drawn from the membership of the Glacier Chorale present musical “portraits” of human experience – some intimate and some universal. From a walk amidst the falling leaves of September to a historical moment when musical composition survived ideological onslaught, moments have been captured in music, and we are happy to present these Choral Portraits to you. These portraits hang in a hall framed by “pillars.” Historically significant texts such as the Veni Sancte Spiritus, Regina coeli, and Ave verum corpus and composers of household name such as Mozart, Beethoven, and Mendelssohn serve as the Choral Pillars that frame our hall of portraits. MAY 1 – 2, 2021 Glacier Symphony Orchestra John Zoltek, Conductor Carmen, Masques and Malambo The Glacier Symphony Orchestra takes you on a lush musical journey through time and place with works by Bizet, Fauré, Debussy and Ravel! Included in the program are “sweet orchestral suites” like the fiery Carmen Suite, the popular Masques et Bergamasques and the richly orchestrated Petite Suite, as well as the soothing and nostalgic Pavane pour une infante défunte . Grammy® nominated, Seattle-based Uruguayan-American composer Miguel del Águila ’s rousing and rhythmic Malambo for bassoon and strings takes center stage with our principal bassoonist, Alicia Mclean-Brischli, as soloist.
