Soulful, alt-rock musician, Citizen Cope, will celebrate 20 years of music when he brings his 2022 Anniversary Tour to The ELM in Bozeman on May 18th and The Wilma in Missoula on Friday, May 20th. Citizen Cope is the stage moniker pf Washington, DC-based singer-songwriter and producer, Clarence Greenwood. His 2002 self-titled album was certified Gold and contains the hit song “Let The Drummer Kick” which was certified Platinum. He followed in 2004 with The Clarence Greenwood Recordings, which was also certified Gold and includes the popular tracks “Bullet and a Target,” “Son’s Gonna Rise” and “Sideways.” The latter two feature the legendary, Carlos Santana. Citizen Cope’s 2019 album, Heroin and Helicopters, featured the lead single “Justice.” Writing about the song, NPR noted Cope’s “…impressive ability to pair deep-felt grooves and a memorable melody with wondrous lyrical simplicity that goes straight to the point and to the heart.” In 2021, Cope released The Pull of Niagara Falls, a lyrically heavy, ballad-based, new collection of previously unreleased songs.
